The problem is in the gui

I put a copy of this old config in the program repertory, and got a
backup by running nssbaackupd:

leleu@portable-leleu:/usr/local/bin$ ls
nssbackup.conf        nssbackupd             nssbackup-upgrade-backups
nssbackup-config-gui  nssbackup-restore-gui
leleu@portable-leleu:/usr/local/bin$ sudo ./nssbackupd

this last command made the successful backup.
