One thing you will certainly need to take into account is how to get
access to your backup if you have (also) lost the key, e.g. due to a
harddisk crash. You will need to make sure the key is always available
from a completely separate location that is also secure.
A question is, to which extent you will want your backup program to make
you aware of this, or perhaps to even enforce it?
