I'd say that this depends on those writing actual applications using the
staging branch. For instance, at the very least, it is important that
Linas and Joel make sure that their stuff still works as expected.
Currently the unit tests all pass, but I'm afraid that the coverage of
the current unit tests isn't nearly as complete as we'd like.
Also, it'd be good to port the branch to win32 before we declare it as
stable. I'll eventually get to it but I can't tell for sure how long it
will take, as I'm far from proficient with win32-related things. And I
still have to finish the docs (which is what I'm currently working on).
Anyway, if you really want a number pulled out of the air -- and
assuming that there aren't any other tasks I forgot or am unaware of --
I'd say 2 to 3 weeks. :-)
