回复: 回复: Chinese localization status

Eric,
Do you know why it's you not niv@tiny study this module and give me so detail feedback ?

Yes, your concerns are what I think any reviewer will talk about, let me explain here:

As far as I can see from your module, you add specific function (name_get), you input some translation in Chinese directly hard-coded.

This name_get function is work for both account_move form and reports, you know full name of account is more clear to user. And openerp keep using same English word in different place, the word "Name" is a good example. Here "科目名称"
and "凭证摘要" share a same keyword "Name", this made the translation hard to satisfied accountants. Then I add a "Chinese directly hard-coded " in View XML.

I think this is maybe a little bit difficult to maintain in the future? I think there should be no Chinese in the code at all. All should be English and you add a translation in translation module.

---- Agree with your point, but in our module reports depends on relaterio_report engine, which is not support i18n till now. We have to either remove our reports or leave the chinese hard-code message there. I choosed the 2nd option.

Should not we think about one simple module call l10n_cn with chart of account only + reports and a second module l10n_cn_extra for the specifics (base_cn+data+font+modifications on programs)?

---- This is a B plan, but I think it will be l10n_chart_cn and l10n_cn, if 5Mb font and Many Chinese hard-code really scared core team reviewer, I 'd like take this approach. But this chance will accept only one module for each country, It's a challenge.

Your are the first one really care about this issue, Thanks !!!

Jeff

       Hi Jeff,
I have just had a quick look over the module and I think there is really a great job in there!

I have somme questions about the full module:
As far as I know a regular l10n file should give
 chart of account (usually account_chart.xml)
 chart of taxes (usually account_tax.xml)
 tax codes (usually account_tax_codes.xml)
and some specific reports to the country (not implemented in the standard version) and maybe some wizard (which appear in your module)

As far as I can see from your module, you add specific function (name_get), you input some translation in Chinese directly hard-coded.
I think this is maybe a little bit difficult to maintain in the future? I think there should be no Chinese in the code at all. All should be English and you add a translation in translation module.

I will try to test the module asap and give you a feedback :)
 Let me know your idea!

                      Hi everybody,
What is the status on current Chinese localization project?
What about translation, chart of account and tax system reports and interfaces?

I could dedicate some time to help in translation and improve the quality of the localization.

             looking forward to reading you!
