Glad you don't see any extra problems with the on_change choice. 

Even though not directly related to the problem at hand - I would be interested to know more about how you are using your code as is shown on github. Maybe there is some module or code that shows me how to use it?

Any thoughts pro/contra button/on_change? Maybe I see it completely wrong?
