In fact in openerp i cant see the case when you do that, yo possibly do:

[('product_id.category_id <http://product_id.category_id.name/>
','=',category_id)]

when category_id is a field in your wizard or object.

So you can give us more info about what you want to do and we can help you
in openobject way. :)
