Re: The Future of the Point of Sale
Hi, António and Frédéric,
First of all, Frédéric, congratulations for your initiative. I consider it
very good focused and well posed. About other possible features, the two
mentioned by Mario are a must-have, so please consider including them in
this campaign. Also, you need at least the first one for things like
fidelity cards and so on. But in this way, I prefer you to concentrate in
refining the extensibility mechanism for all the POS peripherals and also
the extensibility of the code (like prepare_invoice_lines method on
account.invoice) for all the aspects of the POS (product
added/removed/changed, payment done, ticket preparation, etc), because more
of the ugly hacks made in the past has been propiciated by the inability to
inherit from any method of the core. In this way, community will do amazing
things for sure! (I'm already fascinated for some things achieved on
community repositories).
Antonio, it's good to know that you have extended POS possibilities to
adequate to Portugal legislation, but I think it's too soon to make changes
or adaptations to POS until the project gets to more or less an stable
version. This extension can be hosted either on new openerp-pos project or
maybe on Portuguese localization project, due to the localised nature of
it. We will discuss this later, but count with our advise and help for this
task.
Regards.
