this is only partly true here in Austria - see picture.
your argument seems only to be true for "chart of accounts" in some very "regulated" countries.

If you think of analytic accounts, product categories or locations there
is no legal requirement in numbering and quite often it will be
necessary to restructure the tree to reflect organisational changes
without changing the code of the item

Status in OpenObject Addons Modules: New

Bug description:
looking at the "new" reports these are technically (more or less) correct, but still not usable in day to day business.

on long lists OpenERP must print "decimal" hierarchy to allow allocation of positions to their parents.

1.
1.1.
1.1.2
1.2.
1.3.
1.3.1
1.3.1.1 
etc

this is true for all tree structured reports (on screens structures are well visible)
