Hello,
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I got feedbacks from 25 partners on
this topic
with different point of views:
- 14 thinks it's a good idea
- 4 use this feature for customers but agree on changing
- 7 use this feature for customers and the change may be a problem
(4 of the 7 thinks we need to improve to make it more usable:
alerts...)
We need to clean the system, so I think we will remove this feature in
future versions
and use classic emails to handle the need. If you need to create an
object and attach
a workflow to it, you can still link the email to an email gateway
connected to one
of the existing object of OpenERP: claim, issue, task...
In order to ease the migration we will:
- hide the feature but keep it in V6.1 so that all community modules will
continue to work. We will remove this from the GTK & Web client,
but you will
still be able to access it from menus (on which we will put
group_no_one by default)
- we will remove the feature in v6.2 or v7.0
- This request system will not be used anymore by any official module
in v6.1
and future versions. We will replace it by an email system.
Of course, as usual, we will help OpenERP Enterprise customers to
replace this
feature by another concept during migrations. If you ask the migration
of custom
modules, we also handle to rewrite of the code to use the new email
system instead
of requests.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hello,
We are thinking about removing the ir.requests system of OpenERP (the 2 bottom right buttons in the gtk client).
It's mainly used by openerp to send system messages to admin users. So, we plan to replace this by a simple and clean email to the right person.
Before doing this change, we'd like to know if your customers extensively use this system or if you have community modules based on this ?
Any feedback is welcome...
Please answer to me directly to not create noise on the partner list.
