Problem solved.

The account types are defined such that  nothing appears on the balance sheet.
As it happens, all accounts are linked to these types.

Once for each account type it is defined whether and where they should appear
on the balance the accounts show up.

The bug can be stated as closed in the add-ons section

  Balance sheet is empty in Demo database

Status in OpenERP Addons (modules):
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hi all.

  Server version 6.0.3
  GTK client version 6.0.3

  When I go to Accounting -> Reporting -> Legal Reports -> Accounting Reports -> Balance Sheet
  and print the balance sheet, the sheet is empty. Just one line on each side showing EUR 0.00
  In the options dialog for printing the balance, all options are default
  Reserve P/L account is 150000 Crediteuren

  How to get there:
  Create new database
  Include demo data
  Language Dutch/Nederlands

  Select these modules during installation
  Invoicing
  Purchase
  Accounting & Finance
  Dutch accounting Scheme
  Fiscal Yr 2012

  Leave all other choices default.

  The balance sheet show just one line.

  The trial balance shows all accounts

  Go to Accounting -> Configuration ->Financial Accounting->Accounts
  From the list select "0 OpenErp S.A." and open the account form
  In the account form, request the General Ledger for this account.
  It shows a correct G/L

  Why is the balance sheet empty?
