Hi,
I have tested in 6.0 with revision 5047 (there is a file xpi updated on 
2012-02-02) and tb9.0 and I still have the same behavior (check screenshot).
I am not sure this is the right file as it says version 1.0 (if it has 
been rewritten from scratch shouldnot it be version 2.0 or 1.99?)
In image, garbage customers name at bottom are Chinese character partners.

Title:
  Thunderbird plugin wrongly fetch utf8 data from server

Status in OpenERP Addons (modules):
  Invalid

Bug description:
  With TB 3.19 and v6.0.2 Thunderbird plugin. OpenERP database v6.0.2
  I setup UTF-8 in TB: Edit/preferences/Display/Advanced/ 
  Fonts for "Simplified Chinese"
  outgoing Mail UTF-8
  Incoming Mail UTF-8

  Clicking on OpenERP/Push, I open the Push window, search for Partners. I see correctly all my partners from the openerp database
  Partners with Chinese Characters appears with funny signs (seems that they are not imported in UTF-8)
  My partners are perfectly readable in Chinese in my OpenERP database.
  I can receive/send email in Chinese from TB
