I have had clients interested in getting an ERP in the retail
environment specifically complain about this issue.  The problem with
the save new is that the popup is hiding what has been added preventing
the user from seeing what has added prior, allowing duplication or
missing of lines in a longer order.

In most retail environment changes to those fields you mentioned are
rare outside cases rather then the norm.    A two button solution (Add
line, Add advanced line (with popup)) could suit both purposes.

Bug description:
  Wishlist: Adding items to long sales orders can become tedious when
  each item requires a popup be opened a form filled out and then
  closed.  Allowing direct editing of the tree view using default values
  can signifigantly improve entry time.
