I have checked this issue with 6.0 Stable but i did 
not face any problem like you mention in comment #4,
So would you please check this again with latest code.
currently its working fine.

  search filters should not search by user friendly name (label)

Status in OpenERP Addons (modules):
  New

Bug description:
  OpenERP GTK client stable.

  If in object model there are more than one field with the same visible
  name (label), then filter functionality works only on the first field
  only.

  Example: Different labels are translated equally in other language.
  Load GTK client in other language and try to add search filter on
  particular object. If there are two identical labels in drop down
  list, then only first is working.

  Search filters should search by actual field name not label, but
  display user friendly label.
