[Bug 1073196] Re: translating a field takes a lot of work in 7.0
A further problem, but that was already the case in 6.1, is that there
is no way for a user to see all translations, withouth editting the
record. So if you are only allowed to read the record, you would have to
keep switching your user language to see all translations....

Title:
translating a field takes a lot of work in 7.0
Status in OpenERP Server:
New
Bug description:
I tried to modify both the English and the Dutch translations for a
product.
In OpenERP 6.1 when I click on the translation flag next to the
product name, I am presented with a popup screen where I can enter all
translations for the selected row (rather than just for product name
field, as I would expect).
If I load another language I can view and change all languages at the
same time.
Clicking on the same flag in OpenERP trunk (soon to be 7.0) I get to
a kind of list screen. After some trying I did succeed in changing the
dutch name. I have no opportunity to change the English name in this
screen. There is a button New (or Nieuw in Dutch) which has no
usefull purpose.
The list screen in OpenERP 7.0 shows automatically a row for each
language loaded in the system. You can ONLY change the translation
here.
If you want to change the English text AND the translations:
- login as a user configured to use us_EN
- Change a translatable field (for instance product name) just as any other field, to change the English translation
- Save the record
- Reopen the record again in Edit mode
- Now click on the flag to change all translations (if you click on the flag immediately after changing the English text, you will get a warning that your change will be lost).
All this is rather round about and tortuous....
