Hi,

A proper explanation on how we plan to handle module deprecation should be presented soon along with the draft release notes for OpenERP 7.0. Roughly, the idea is that the OpenERP policy in the future will be to deprecate modules that cannot be maintained correctly. It may be because the module was never finished or never specified fully, or because its implementation is too unstable to be easily corrected without rewriting it. In those case we prefer removing it from the official addons (perhaps only temporarily), rather than keep something that we don't have the resources to fix.
A related topic was discussed on the community list, regarding '*_layout' modules this time[2].

So, what happens with the modules that are dropped this way?
- We give a reason of the removal, and present a recommended alternative if there is one (e.g. for scrum, the new kanban views could be used to achieve almost similar results, where the current sprint backlog is one stage, and the product backlog is another stage. The rest of the project_scrum module was roughly unusable.)
- We move the module source code to a public project on Launchpad, where the community can choose to maintain it themselves if they wish so: https://code.launchpad.net/openerp-extra
- For customers who have an OpenERP Enterprise contract, the situation will be assessed with the OE team when they decide to migrate. If appropriate, the data will be migrated to another alternative module (e.g scrum->kanban). If no alternative works for them, the OE team might provide a special port of the module for the new version, as an exception.
- (And in the future we hope to have enough resources to fix or re-develop properly the removed modules)

  Hello.

  In trunk project_scrum module is missing.

  Just for question:

  How i will manage migration if i used this module inV6.1? is really
  easy copy and migrate it, but it should be great if somebody can share
  with us how they see functional migration for Sprint Concepts and
  other ones!

  Ifthis is not a bug, and some good explanations given, You can set
  this bug as opinion.
