Thank you for guiding me to the right direction.

First I tried to update the module as recommended but with no luck. The
installed version of the module "Payment Follow-up Management" is
7.0.1.0 and there seems to be no later version available for the Windows
OpenERP version. If I am wrong concerning this statement please guide me
to the right direction again.

I then tired to uninstall the module "Payment Follow-up Management"
instead and this worked. After uninstalling this module I could
successfully open the contacts again.

I immediately tried to reinstall this module and got also back the
error. So it would be great if an updated version of this module could
be delivered in one of the next (openerp-allinone-setup-7.0-xxxxxxxxx-
xxxxxx.exe).

Current installed version is "openerp-allinone-
setup-7.0-20130123-165334.exe".

Maybe go to Settings where you see all the modules.  And in this case go
to Payment Follow-up and update the module.  It seems Windows modules
are downloaded from the net.

  When I create a new customer under sales or if I try to open an
  existing customer I always get the error below in the openerp-
