As a side note for those interested in testing these changes in a stable release, this branch also merges cleanly into v7.0, and another branch can be tested with v6.0 and 6.1 : https://code.launchpad.net/~numerigraphe/openobject-addons/6.0-inventory-help.
I won't propose to merge them into stable branches as per the release policy.
