Re: [Bug 221517] Re: Java runtime plug in does not work

I have both the new firefox, 3 and also the Swiftweasel Web browser
version of firefox, Java runtime will not run on either. On SW it does
give a pull down, but it won't install and on Firefox 3 is just says in
red letters no Java found. Today it will not even go to that web page.
Both did work fine with 7.10.
At the Java web site once it did say JRE installed but the version was
old.

Java runtime plug in does not work

You received this bug notification because you are a member of OpenJDK,
which is subscribed to icedtea-gcjwebplugin in ubuntu.

Status in Source Package "icedtea-gcjwebplugin" in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: icedtea-gcjwebplugin

The java runtime worked with 7.10 on both Firefox and Swiftwesel Firefox. However it does not work on Ubuntu 8.04
Icetea shows it, i have done all the things right, but it won't run, I am no expert but I did try to do what I did when it successfully installed on 7.10 and the older versions of Ubuntu and I still have the other firefox broser on here so it is not working in the 3. beta or the Swiftweasel verson. So I think it is a problem with Ice tea.
Also it looks like SUN does not list UBUNTU as one of its packages for JRE.

I guess I will give it a while but it looks like I might have to go back to and older distro as 7.10 was working fine.

Perhaps it is just a bug, Good luck fixing it.

Thanks
