Re: [Bug 250292] Re: firefox cannot reach the login screen of www.ppshk.com
I have removed and re-add icedtea. But still having the problem. I tried
to use the JRE 1.5.x, but the repository does not have it. And I do not
know how to install the JRE 1.5.x bin file downloaded from the Java site.
Any other suggestion?
Thank you.

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
Even after I have installed the relevant packages of JAVA JRE and web browser plugin (IcedTea), I still cannot reach sites which require to run some Java applets. For example, to get into the www.ppshk.com login screen, Firefox 3.0.1 under Ubuntu 8.04 (64bits) will stop at the point when the system indicated "Starting Applet" and "Applet Started". The login screen never show up.
In another occasion going to the www.bankcomm.com.hk and chose the stock trading option on the top left, it will show the login boxes. However, when you enter something into the box, the site give off a message referring to the case when something has not activated the JAVA option in IE, even though I have checked that all the JAVA options have been chosen.
