[Bug 387059] [NEW] Ubuntu update from 8.04 to 8.10 crashed. Trying again produced this error. System ist Portable Ubuntu on Windows 2000.

After crash package libc6 was broken, reinstalled it, ran update to
Ubuntu 8.10 again. There were several errors, including "Could not
install Update manager"
