I was having trouble accessing any update repos through eclipse, either
with the lucid eclipse package, the eclipse tarball from the project's
site, or with aptana studio 2.0 on my lucid 64-bit machines.

I was getting the error:

INFO: I/O exception (java.net.ConnectException) caught when processing request: Invalid argument

Swapping out openjdk for the sun-java6 packages in the canonical partner
repo solved my problem.
