Title:
.jar files are no longer associated with Java

Status in “openjdk-6” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
.jar files (or at least minecraft.jar) used to be associated with the
Java runtime environment and could be launched and run just like any
normal executable program. In this release, since the switch to
openJDK as the default, openJDK is not an option to launch .jar files.
There is probably a way around this by launching the selected program
with openJDK from the terminal, but I don't believe this should be
necessary, especially since it is a regression.
