I can confirm this behavior. I am also using Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit. Does
not affect Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit.

  Eclipse crashes while using Qt c++ widget box

Status in “openjdk-6” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Whenever I click on certain items of the Qt widget box eclipse just
  crashes without any error message or warning. Ubuntu version 11.10.

  I found a hs_err_pid15615.log file in my home folder which starts
  with:
