Title:
Update causes Eclipse to fail to be able to set breakpoints
Status in “openjdk-7” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
The latest security update for openjdk (on 2012-09-11) now causes
Eclipse to fail to be able to set a breakpoint in code.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Eclipse Juno
2. Create a Java project, with a class
3. Attempt to set a breakpoint on a line of code
What happens is you get a popup with the message "The chosen operation
is not enabled". There is also an option in the context menu to
"Toggle Breakpoint Enablement". This gives the same error popup. It
did not appear to deposit anything in the Eclipse .log
The only way I've found to fix this is to install the Sun/Oracle JDK
and use that instead, breakpoints work OK then.
Clearly this could be a bug in Eclipse, but it didn't happen at all,
and then it started happening with the latest openjdk update, so I'm
filing it here and will move it if I get guidance to do so.
My environment:
I am not using Eclipse from Ubuntu repositories, I am using the main download from eclipse.org (Build id: 20120614-1722)
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
openjdk-7-jre:
Installed: 7u7-2.3.2-1ubuntu0.12.04.1
