[Bug 997689] Re: thinkorswim app core dumps frequently

 

Here's my solution:

- Download the official Java for your platform (x86 or x64).*
- Put the jre folder (make sure it's named jre) in the same folder as the shell installer. This causes the installer to use Java from your jre folder, instead of any installed copies.
- Make the shell installer executable if it isn't already.
- Run the installer and install ToS (I installed it to my ~/bin folder, otherwise you can't run the app without root as it needs access to change files frequently). ToS installed to ~/bin/thinkTDA.
- Put your jre folder in ~/bin (makes ~/bin/jre).
- Make a link in ~/bin/thinkTDA/jre with a target ~/bin/jre.
- Run ToS.
