  Minecraft crashes on login

Status in “openjdk-7” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Minecraft starts normally, upon pressing the Login button, it shows
  one of the usual screens and progress bar.  When the progress bar
  completes, it crashes with the following output:
