Title:
openjdk 8 ParallelGC effectively not working, useless for desktop use

Status in openjdk-8 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When I start up Netbeans using Ubuntu's openjdk 8, it will use 4 GB
RAM after startup has settled. Using Oracle's most recent jdk 8, it
  uses 900 MB.

  I'm using -XX:GCTimeRatio=9 and -XX:+UseParallelGC command line
options for java 8 desktop apps to keep their memory consumption at a
  minimum.
