This needs to be a plugin level. 

The addition of mysql will fail for bibles as the database would not be created by.  Mysql needs the database created before our current code will run.  I did have a play in the early days my writing the first plugin to make sure we were heading in the right direction.
   
The current code allows a user (who knows what they are doing) to replace sqlite with any supported database. 
This has never been tested so we do not know what features will fail.
