Playing a song live and preview at the same time is up to the user!
There is a volume control on the preview controller.

After discussions, we've decided that the problem was not a hanging
issue, but not realising that ESC needs to be pressed to exit live mode
when in single screen and an MP3 is playing. However the issue of how to
address this is a general usability or documentation issue, and outside
the scope of this bug.

Title:
  Media player plugin plays 2 songs at once

Status in OpenLP - Worship Presentation Software:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I started the Media plug-in.  selected an MP3 file, then selected
  "Preview".  while the song was playing, I clicked "Go Live"

  Had 2 instances of the song playing at once.  This caused Openlp to
  "lockup" (ie I couldn't quit the app).  had to power off the machine.
