I've just checked that re-saving in UTF-8 format works, and I'm glad to say it does.
I've been using "textpad" not notepad, and for some reason had swapped to ANSI format some time ago.  Consider this as my bad.

I accept this problem as closed.

  Import of accented characters problems

Status in OpenLP - Worship Presentation Software:
  New

Bug description:
  While trying to import a new song in "OpenSong" format which contains an accented character in the title.  The song fails to import with the following error message:
  The following songs could not be imported:
  - /test/test.txt (XML syntax error)
  Replacing the accented character with a non-accented character and the file imported correctly
  (Sample files available if required)

  OpenLP version 1.9.5 build 1507
  Windows XP Pro, sp 3
