1) The issue lies in the method blankCheck() in mainwindow. The settingsSection (general) has just been forgotten (we are checking for a setting/value which has never been set).
2) Next problem is, that this is triggered from the VersionThread. (You can disable the version check).
3) I don't see an use for this right now because it does not make any difference to switch it on/off  apart from the fact that a dialog pops up (we do not restore the "blank state").
