I seem unable to get phonon to even open a video file on Linux, let
alone play it.

Therefore if there is someone who has had phonon working before and can
give lp:~j-corwin/openlp/transparent a try and see if this plays videos
under the phonon controller, please could you let me know how successful
you are. Ta.

  Translucent display has broken phonon video

Bug description:
  I thought it was too good to be true. It appears that by making
  maindisplay translucent I have broken Phonon videos. (Webkit still OK)

  ~crichter has discovered it relates to Qt bug

  Unfortunately just turning the translucent attribute on and off when
  required doesn't appear to work as the display stops redrawing when
  turning translucency off after it has been on.
