Solution is not found yet. It is unlikely to be fixed for 1.9.9. For the
1.9.9 mac build I'll not include the vlc backend.

Bug description:
  Video playback does not work on Mac OS X (tested on Lion). The video
  does not even come up.

  I think we need to test properly the code from media rewrite branch
  and port it for Mac OS X.
