Well I wouldn't suggest we attempt to determine the order from the search results contents, just sequence them in the order they appear in the media manager list, rather than by click order.
If someone wants 1,5,2,10 they can either search for: Gen 1:1,5,2,10 or add the verses individually to the service.
If someone wants something more complicated they can click the padlock and search in the order required.

I just am not yet convinced anyone would expect or know the verses would
get added to the service item in the order they are ctrl-or shift-
clicked.

Bug description:
  Search for whole chapter.
  Press end, press shift and home. Send to preview, you have last verse, then 1-one-before-last.

  Ctrl+pick verses 3,2,1; you have these in that exact order.
