A wiki page now exists: http://wiki.openlp.org/Development:Unit_Tests

Needs more examples though, e.g. class methods (including complex ones)
and UI methods.

Bug description:
  Somebody started to write some automated tests. We will need to do a
  wiki page on how to write unit tests.  A UI and functional example
  would be nice.
