Title:
Enable by default: ”Clicking on a selected slide in the
slidecontroller advances to next effect”
Status in OpenLP:
New
Bug description:
This setting can be found under PowerPoint options. (In 2.1.6)
At the moment this setting is disabled by default, which means PowerPoint +
effects combo won't work if mouse click is used to navigate the presentation.
I think it would be good to enable it by default.
For users with PowerPoint effects would work properly.
For users with Libre, nothing would be different whatever the setting
is disabled or enabled. (At least my Win 10 laptop Libre only combo
works the same on Portable install where some computers use
PP=PowerPoint.)
Some developers suggested this might be a bad idea because:
For users with both PP and Libre installed,
mouse click would work for PP but not for Libre.
Okay, that's true... But is it really a big deal?
A.) From my experience people unfortunately
don't tend to install Libre if they use MS office.
B.) At least in Finland it's very rare to see .odp files as
.pptx has such a dominant position.
I feel like some PP users might find it dizzy that they should enable
some setting in order for their presentations to work properly and
they even might as well just ditch the whole program because they
think it does not work.
Also the users running PP + Libre combo with technical knowledge could
still disable this feature if they so desire.
As a conclusion I feel like enabling it by default
would cause less confusion than leaving it off,
for me it seems like the majority of users would
benefit from this or not get effected by it.
