Message #31457
[Bug 1687467] [NEW] Display problems for hidpi laptops
Public bug reported:
OS Ubuntu 17.04
OpenLP 2.4.5
Description of problem.
The UI has badly blown-up UI elements when you have a properly configured hidpi monitor. OpenLP appears to apply the UI scaling twice to produce extemely large UI elements and UI fonts.
To reproduce this problem.
1. Install Ubuntu 17.04 on a computer with a hidpi monitor (e.g. Dell XPS15). T
2. Log in to Ubuntu. The windows & all UI elements will appear tiny. Go to System Settings > Screen Display and set the "scale for menu and title bars" to 2.0 and press Apply.
3. Install and run OpenLP
Work around.
Setting the system UI scaling back to 2.0 fixes the problem but the window and menu UI elements are pretty unusable.
Other information.
Running from the command line gives the following errors which may be relevant:
$ openlp
Warning: QT_DEVICE_PIXEL_RATIO is deprecated. Instead use:
QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR to enable platform plugin controlled per-screen factors.
QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS to set per-screen factors.
QT_SCALE_FACTOR to set the application global scale factor.
** Affects: openlp
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
** Tags: hidpi
** Attachment added: "How the UI looks on a hidpi monitor (set scaling to 50% to view on a standard monitor)"
