Hello

A number of side / external components to OpenSAND  have been developed around the platform.
Many of them, but also some core components, need the satellite interface name (such as "opensand_tun") for interface selection when sending/receiving traffic.

So far, interface names are often hard-coded, which is for evident reasons ugly and not desirable in case of future updates
But also, with the recent support of additional interfaces ("opensand_tap" e.g. for Ethernet connectivity), the desired interface name cannot always be known in advance.

In order to get easily this configuration, the interface names could be put, during the package installation, in a stable Linux directory / file, independent as far as possible from the current OS and OpenSAND configurations/versions
(other equivalent solutions may be preferred...)
