Andy,

Each student downloaded the PPA version.  However, the laptops were already
loaded with OpenShot 1.3.1.  After talking with my technology director more,
the random freezing might be more of a function of the Lenovo x120e laptops
we are using than OpenShot.  This is entirely possible.

I am currently trouble-shooting on a different laptop without the freezing
bug of the x120e and I just received another error that 2 students reported.
 I tried to open my video and all of my images and my audio are labeled
"Invalid" but they were working just fine before.  Any ideas about this?
