No, but you seem to have a problem with MLT. And I don't see which one. At first look, you have the last stable version....

  OpenShot crashes after playing the preview

  OS: Ubuntu 11.10
  Installation Method: Ubuntu Software Center
  Version: 1.4.0

  Hi, I'm italian so I ask sorry if i make some mistakes with the
  english.

  This is the problem: I add a simple animation, like "reduce", to an
  image into the timeline then I press play. What I see is a complete
  black screen instead of the image with its effect and after the
  preview the software crashes imediately. This happens always.
