Hi,
This problem appears on the 11.10 with the version 0.7.4 and comes from our framework MLT. The issue is resolved with an upgrade of the "official" version available in the repository. See here how to obtain the latest version :

Title:
  OpenShot hangs in an infinite loop when exporting

Status in OpenShot Video Editor:

Bug description:
  I created a new project with 2 tracks. On one track there is an OGG
  file and on the other a WMV file.

  The export seems to finish in a reasonaly time, but then OpenShot
  continues to use 100% CPU and the export dialog
