Ok i have the exact same problem and i know why.

Recently, the open file dialog in gnome changed a bit, now, by defaut,
when you want to add a file, the recently used category is showed in the
open filedialog.

It's an issue because we want to retrieve the last used directory when
we open a file, and if we pick the file from the recently used files,
then the last used directory is not set, producing an error the next
time you wan't to add a file.

Title:
  when i run openshot i am able to import a file one time only.

Bug description:
  After installation it works well. But there is a crash. Now it's
  impossible to import file more than one time. It's only possible with
  drag and drop. (excuse me i'am french)
