Re: [Bug 931631] Re: trim the sequence without resizing it

hi,

i made an exerpt of the bug report :
* OS = linux ubuntu 11.11
* PPA openshot v1.4.2
i'm using the french version of the program, maybe i don't properly
translate the words

input clip :
* 960p 1280x960 25fps file

output expected clip :
* 720p 1280x720 25 fps file
* mp4 libx264
* no distorsion, no fill
* input clip at its initial size (a part of the input clip will not be
displayed because the eight of the output is smaller than the one of the
input clip)

first approach : 720p 25fps profile with default clip properties (geometry,
alignment, filling, distorsion)
* fill = 1, distort = 0 => xml export : distort = 0, fill = 1 - clip export
: filled, not distorded
* fill = 0, distort = 0 => xml export : distort = 0, fill = 0 - clip export
: filled, not distorded
* fill = 0, distort = 1 => xml export : distort = 0, fill = 1 - clip export
: filled, distorded
* fill = 1, distort = 1 => xml export : distort = 0, fill = 1 - clip export
: filled, distorded
it sounds as if the "fill" option is always active

1. As the xml export corresponds to the clip properties, the bug is
probably not relative to openshot (in my opinion)
2. possible expanation : the input clip is automatically filled when bigger
than the output format

second approach : 1080p 25fps profile
the status is the same as with the 720p profile

other approach : personal 1280x960p profile, and then 720p export
the status is the same as with the 720p profile

My personal opinion about this bug :
* probably not relative to openshot
* when the input clip does not have the same aspect ratio as the output
clip, MLT fills the clip so that everything is displayed, even if the
"fill" option is not ticked.

Title:
  trim the sequence without resizing it

Status in OpenShot Video Editor:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  1. OS = linux ubuntu 11.11
  2. PPA openshot v1.4.2
  i don't know wether this is a bug report or a question.
  i'm using the french version of the program, maybe i don't properly translate the words

  my input is a GoPro 960p 1280x960 file
  what i want to do is cut the top and the bottom of the file to get a 720p 1280x768 output
  what i do is :
  * select a 720p profile project
  * right click on the sequence to get the properties
  * go to the 4th sheet "agencement"
  * y => -10% to trim up my sequence of 96dots (twice : once at the beginning and once at the end of the sequence)
  * let the other values unchanged (100%, 100%, 0%)
  * go to the 6th sheet "video"
  * untick the option "etirer en plein ecran" (stretch to fullscreen)
  * let the other values unchanged(lenght/width unchanged etc...)

  => in my opinion i should then have my input 960p file centered on the
  preview window, with both the top and the bottom cut (trimmed)

  BUT what i have is a black line at the left, right and bottom, as if
  the stretch to fullscrren option was still ticked

  Have i done someting wrong ?

  My opinion : as far as i have analyzed my problem, when the input file
  has a bigger size than the output format, the video is always resized.

  How could i do what i want ?
  if you are interested, i can give you 960p files so that you can test and suggest me a solution.

  Please tell me if my explanation is not clear enough.
