Re: [Bug 630290] Re: Add the DNxHD video Codec

Unfortunately, non on my both Ubuntu system (12.04 used with Sven'PPA and
11.10 with Medibuntu repository).
And this codec is essential for video editing better than the AVCHD but you
know already that. :-)
I have followed this FAQ :

  Add the DNxHD video Codec

Bug description:
  Hi everybody,
It should nice to introduce the DNxHD codec who is present in FFmpeg. This codec have been created by Avid leader in the professional Video Editor who have open the specification of this codec.
Fortunately, FFmpeg (yet) have introduce it. This codec is interresting for the heavy file in HD and when we will create the Conversion tool it must be in the first place. I advice now for keep the best quality but for the weak configuration to use it. Only, two tools in the Linux World use it : Kdenlive and EKD in this experimental version. The only weakness is the ..........size of the file ; you must have a lot of place, because there is almost none compression.
Here too i put the link of Avid where they explain their format but If you look at the page 7 of this PDF you have a table with all the parameters.
The link of this PDF is here : http://www.avid.fr/resources/whitepapers/dnxhd.pdf
Don't worry same if the link is French not the PDF.
Just one remarque, on Linux FFmpeg don't take/work the specification in x i.e. Avid DNxHD 220x (no) but Avid DNxHD 220 and Avid DNxHD 145 yes.
  Thanks.
