@ Andreas - Thank you for the info. Are you able to test the latest
source code? There is a change there that should fix the saving issue,
and hopefully will also fix the exporting problem.

  since I upgraded to ubuntu 13.04 from 12.10 I cannot export or save
  files from openshot.
