I take the liberty to open this bug again as I just got this error
message myself (Openshot 1.4.3 on Linux Mint 15).

I spent 2 hours editing some video. Openshot crashed repeatedly. After
the last crash, when trying to open the file, I get the above error
message. No idea what caused it.

Is there anything I can do to recover my work or is it lost forever?

Bug description:
  When I try to open my *.osp project, I get this message "There was an error opening this project file.  Please be sure you open the correct *.osp file"
  What is the problem?
  How could I repair it?
