There is no FFMpeg in Ubuntu 14.04 - instead libav 9.16 is used.

  Video and Audio are asynchronous with mp3 and jpegs

Bug description:
  Ubuntu GNOME 14.04.1

  Official Repositories

  OpenShot 1.4.3

  I created a new Project with HD 1080i, added a mp3 file and 3 pictures
  (jpg). When playing preview from start everything runs fine. When
  starting anywhere else video and photos are asynchronous.

  Update: same problem with Pitivi and Kdenlive
  Update 2: no problems when using wav instead of mp3
