I have a same problem while using i3 window manager. Now of workarounds
listed here work and I could not use the software :(

Title:
  Cannot turn off/hide "Tutorial

Status in OpenShot Video Editor:
  New

Bug description:
  Running on Linux, Xubuntu 16.04 64 bit, using the AppIamge 2.1

  I click the hide button but nothing happens, do some thing in another
  part of the screen, and the Tutorial goes away, but as soon as I
  return to the clips area it comes back.
