Yes I saw your problems with FFmpeg, but I'm not sure what to do about it.
I'm open for suggestions. =)   Have you tried uninstalling all versions of
FFmpeg in Synaptic before you begin installing OpenShot?  Give that a try
and see if it gets you any further.
