Openshot 0.9.35 for Ubuntu Jaunty *and* Karmic now available

 

After a heroic struggle with the packaging hell that is
ffmpeg{,-unstripped,-extra}, the latest MLT, and various nasty Karmic
alpha problems, I have managed to grind the package build daemons into
submission.

We now have all the latest dependency packages (libx264, ffmpeg-extra
and MLT) for both Jaunty and Karmic, and of course, OpenShot itself.

I will refresh the Jaunty frei0r package from upstream, and add a new
Karmic package later.

Please test and report back on your experiences with each.

Here are the changelogs in reverse-order:

ffmpeg-extra (4:0.5+svn20090926-0ubuntu3~tj~ppa1k) karmic; urgency=low

  * debian/control: add ffmpeg-extra, ffmpeg-extra-dbg, ffmpeg-extra-doc since the
     equivalent Ubuntu packages are only generated from the "ffmpeg" source and
     that source package isn't being built for PPA.

ffmpeg-extra (4:0.5+svn20090926-0ubuntu2~tj~ppa1k) karmic; urgency=low

  * debian/control: add -dev packages for all library packages since the
     Ubuntu *-dev packages are only generated from the "ffmpeg" source and
     that source package isn't being built for PPA.

ffmpeg-extra (4:0.5+svn20090926-0ubuntu1~tj~ppa1k) karmic; urgency=low

  * Sync ffmpeg with upstream commit 66f67f9f54 2009-09-26.
  * Sync libswscale with upstream commit 0e9c9e056c 2009-09-22.
  * Remove debian/patches:
     fix-qtrle-encoding-when-previous-frame-linesize.patch (upstream: 8b25492b61)
     aac-regression.patch (upstream: e3bc192646)
     fix-dv-seeking.patch (upstream: 31e3fc4da0)
  * removed configure option --disable-vhook (no vhook support)
  * removed configure option --enable-swscale (now the default)
  * debian/rules: RELEASE file is no longer included, so don't try to install
  * debian/rules: examples filename changed to libavcodec/api-example.c
  * Incremented libavutil version to 50 to fix SO library version mismatches

  * Refresh from upstream build 0.76 (required by recent ffmpeg).
  * Fix all compiler warnings with debian/patches/:
     use-correct-data-member-names-not-negative-indices.patch
     do-not-use-out-of-bounds-indices.patch
     initialise-uninitialised-variables.patch
     pointer-targets-differ-in-signedness.patch
     incompatible-implicit-declaration-of-built-in-function-abort.patch
  * debian/control: update binary package suffix to -76.
  * debian/*-76.symbols.*: update build version in file names and contents.
  * debian/*.symbols.*: update build version in file names and contents
     update to match new ABI. Some symbols have been removed by upstream:
     x264_cost_mv_fpel@Base, x264_cost_ref@Base,
     x264_encoder_open@Base, x264_realloc@Base
